PAUL KELLY
Paul Kelly leads the charge with his only Perth headline
show for 2009. Following the massive success of his last solo shows in
Perth for Live At The Quarry’s "Paul Kelly A-Z" last November
(all four shows sold out in record time), his first appearance headlining
Kings Park will be a different take on his astonishing back catalogue.
Expect a set showcasing songs from last year's Greatest Hits - Songs From
The South, Vols 1 & 2, featuring all the classics - in fact expect
one of the most memorable sets of Australian music for the year. The
songs, the venue, the atmosphere, the man himself. It’s official......
we’re excited!

AUGIE MARCH
Augie March are no strangers to Escape. They headlined the
festival’s inaugural 2006 edition and since then the 5 piece have
continued going from strength to strength. In the last 12 months alone
they’ve added the impressive Watch Me Disappear to their discography;
supported Leonard Cohen (alongside Paul Kelly); starred at the inaugural
Perth Laneway Festival; and performed one of their most impressive sets
yet at Splendour In The Grass just last month. Expect one crowded hour of
hits from 7pm as Augie March make their last appearance in WA for the
foreseeable future.

CLARE BOWDITCH
Clare Bowditch joins Escape for the very first time with a
super cool new single about to hit the airwaves - it‘s called The Start
Of War and having had a listen we can tell you it‘s a winner! All of
which bodes very well for her upcoming album, due out soon. The 2006 ARIA
Award winner for Best Female Artist is a renowned live performer and
personality on stage, with a memorable list of songs accumulated
including Divorcee By 23, When The Lights Went Down and You Look So Good.
Clare Bowditch, in the first WA appearance for her all-new band, is a
must-see at Escape To The Park!

MAMA KIN
Mama Kin, aka Danielle Caruana, rounds out the Escape line
up and is a star fast on the rise. Known for a sound steeped in a New
Orleans smoky swamp tradition and a stomping piano groove, it’s an
expression of Rhythm And Blues at its most literal interpretation. The
Freo native returns back on home ground after European and American
support and festival tours last year, treading the very same theatre
boards that her heroes have done for half a century. There’s something
primal and infectious about soul when it’s played like this, and with an
impressive line up of Australian festivals showcases already in 2009, on
stage she delivers a dynamic, raw and intimate show.
